Having obtained a joint degree in Drama and French, where she spent a year in France teaching EFL – English as a foreign language; Sam developed her love of teaching and sharing knowledge. During her PGCE training, Sam focussed on SEN (Special educational needs as it was then called) for her part masters dissertation. This body of work was used during SEN Lectures by one of the PGCE lecturers until her retirement.

During her professional teaching career, Sam taught a variety of subjects – French, drama, dance, PE and basic skills (literacy and numeracy) to pupils of all abilities and created schemes of work for SEN pupils. Having honed her skills in secondary education, Sam is passionate about further developing basic skills within the ALN community; something that is often forgotten about after leaving full time education.

Alongside teaching, Sam has been a qualified dance fitness instructor for over 8 years. She has been lucky enough to be a presenter and training team member for a national brand; which have given her the tools to further develop her skills. For the past few years, Sam has developed SEN and inclusive classes all over Swansea and surrounding areas, working with colleges and day services to provide stimulating opportunities to those with ALN and disabilities. These classes have been recognised on a national level when Sam recently won UK Diversity and Equality Instructor of the year at the National Community Fitness Awards in Newcastle November 2017.

Sam is thrilled to have the opportunity to offer 3 unique opportunities to the ALN community in South Wales.
